Here’s a closeup of the monument, and a shot of Karima at the viewing area outside. The whole of the steppes seem to be laid out below.

The museum and monument were placed here because the original golden whip of Genghiz Khan was found on this hill. Also on this site was the first battle of GK’s reign, in 1170.
